Do you want your makeup to stay flawless and last all day and night?  Follow these simple steps to ensure your makeup lasts and requires minimal touch ups!

The first step is to create the perfect base for your makeup.  Think of your face as your canvas - you are preparing your skin for the layers of makeup you will be applying.  I like to keep it simple and start with a toner.  This will balance your skin's pH levels especially after cleansing your skin.  Skip the primers!  Yes, you read that correct.  No need for that extra layer (and cost).  This will also prevent any pilling that may occur.  I like to use a hyaluronic acid for my skin but you can add your favourite serum or skip this step all together!  Finish off your skin prep with a good face cream and sunscreen.  There are a ton of great options but some of my favs are Embryolisse, Tatcha, and First Aid Beauty.

Now for the makeup... I love to work in thin layers and work the product into the skin with a beauty sponge or brush.  This will not only make your makeup look blended and flawless, it will last you all day and night.

Don't be scared to use powder! We all want that dewy and glowing skin - and you can still have it! Using a small brush or triangle powder puff, place the powder in the areas that get oily or where you touch your face the most. For most of my clients, this is the T-zone.  Be strategic when placing the powder on your face and remember, thin layers!  The powder will lock in your makeup and also give you that airbrushed look.

Now it is time to lock in that beautiful makeup with a setting spray.  You might wonder if this step is necessary, kind of like the primer I told you to ditch earlier.  It is 100% worth the investment.  There are a lot of great options for setting sprays in the drugstore or high end.  I love Charlotte Tilbury, Urban Decay, and One Size... to name a few.  I also love using Mac Fix Plus in between layers.  Setting sprays will lock in your makeup but it will also melt all the products together and into your skin.  If I am doing makeup for a special event such as a wedding, I love to layer the setting sprays and finishing with the One Size spray.
